About the position

The CAD Technician at AVI-SPL is responsible for performing systems drawing documentation using CAD software, specifically for the fabrication and installation of Audio Visual Systems. This role requires the technician to develop and generate all necessary drawings for integrated customer projects, ensuring that they are completed accurately and in a timely manner. The CAD Technician will coordinate closely with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to ensure that all drawings meet the required specifications and standards. High-level customer service is a key component of this position, as the technician will interact with both internal and external customers on a daily basis. In addition to drawing generation, the CAD Technician will research components as needed to create accurate depictions of the systems being installed. In the absence of the Senior CAD Technician, this role will also act as a customer liaison, ensuring that client needs are met and communicated effectively. The technician will be responsible for utilizing and testing the calibration of equipment, contributing to job documentation, and assisting with the installation of projector and screen support structures. The role also involves operating both small and large-scale office printers and plotters, as well as utilizing labeling software for rack and field wiring purposes. Other duties may be assigned as needed, making flexibility and adaptability important traits for this position.

Responsibilities

• Develop and generate all necessary drawings for integrated AVI-SPL customer projects.
• Coordinate with Design Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers to complete drawings accurately and timely.
• Provide high-level customer service to internal and external customers daily.
• Research components as needed to create an accurate depiction.
• Act as customer liaison in absence of the Senior CAD Technician.
• Utilize and test calibration of equipment.
• Contribute to job documentation as needed.
• Assist with projector and Screen Support Structure installations.
• Operate small and large scale office printers/plotters.
• Utilize labeling software for rack and field wiring purposes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Proven proficiency in AutoDesk AutoCAD.
• Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
• Ability to successfully handle multiple projects at once.
• Knowledge of signal flow for audio video and control systems.
• Understanding of site surveys.
• Familiarity with AV or other electro-mechanical installation techniques.
• PC proficient.
• Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL Driving Privileges standards.
• Minimum of 1 year CAD experience preferred.
• 1 year of customer interaction experience preferred.
