About the position

This position is located in the Office of the Tax Assessor and is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining property mapping records from various source documents such as deeds, plats, tax sales, and other legal instruments of transfer. The role requires proficiency in geographic mapping, drafting, and engineering design, along with the ability to learn and apply county policies and procedures effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Compile data required for map preparation, including photographs, survey results, records, reports, and original maps.
  • Prepare land packages for mapping changes from source documents such as deeds and plats.
  • Update parcel information on subdivision log sheets and change tickets.
  • Read and analyze complex legal documents and conduct research on boundary issues.
  • Access and utilize various computer databases and software applications related to property ownership and tax district status.
  • Provide information and technical assistance to governmental officials and the general public.
  • Perform general office work including attending meetings, preparing reports, and answering the telephone.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or technical training in geographic mapping, drafting, mechanical drawing, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in drafting, mapping, mechanical drawing, or engineering design.
