About the position

WSP is seeking a CADD Drafting and Design Support Assistant to join their Transit & Rail Team in Newark, NJ. This role involves supporting the production of drawings for Traction Power and OCS projects, working under the supervision of a Senior Draftsman and Systems Engineers. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and adherence to design standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Produce relevant drawings for assigned Traction Power and OCS projects.
• Support other disciplines within the Systems Group as needed.
• Collect, compile, and analyze data from various sources to support drafting and design activities.
• Learn to use 3D CADD software and work closely with engineers to resolve design details.
• Follow standard practices to provide technical design assistance, ensuring proper illustration and fit.
• Verify accuracy of calculations and design, escalating any discrepancies for resolution.
• Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.
• Engage in contact with clients and contractors for project coordination.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 0-2 years' experience in drafting and design support.
• Familiarity with electrical power engineering devices and concepts.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Expectation of upholding workplace safety and compliance with policies.
