About the position

The CADD Drafting and Design Support Assistant will support the Transit & Rail Team at WSP's Newark, NJ office. This role involves producing drawings for Traction Power and OCS projects, working under the supervision of a Senior Draftsman and Systems Engineers. The assistant will collect and analyze data, use CADD software, and ensure compliance with design standards and regulations. This position is essential for maintaining project quality and supporting various engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Produce relevant drawings for assigned Traction Power and OCS projects.
• Collect, compile, and analyze data from various sources to support drafting and design activities.
• Use CADD software to prepare drawings with a high degree of precision.
• Follow standard practices to provide technical design assistance.
• Verify accuracy of calculations and design interpretations.
• Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Prepare multiple versions of designs for review by engineers.
• Ensure compliance with city, state, and federal regulations in plans.
• Engage in contact with clients and contractors for project coordination.
• Adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• 0-2 years' experience in drafting and design support.
• Familiarity with electrical power engineering devices and concepts.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Expectation of upholding workplace safety policies.
