About the position

The Configuration Manager will support the Air Force's Mobility Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (MAF DMO) program by establishing and managing configuration management processes for simulation and training capabilities. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program deliverables are met, while maintaining strict adherence to configuration control and documentation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate preparation of project documentation, including engineering drawings and production specifications.
  • Analyze proposed changes in product design to assess their impact on overall product and system.
  • Establish change orders and prepare documentation for change authorization.
  • Review and analyze released engineering change data and coordinate changes with relevant departments.
  • Identify and implement configuration management processes, and recommend improvements to existing processes.
  • Maintain version control of software, hardware, and documentation, including assigning unique ID numbers.
  • Implement and maintain a physical Configuration Management Library for controlled access to data.
  • Regulate the change process to ensure only approved changes are incorporated into program products.
  • Track CDRL due dates and ensure timely delivery and configuration control of all versions.
  • Organize and support recurring Configuration Control Board meetings, providing agendas and minutes.
  • Coordinate with customers and subcontractors to merge external documentation into program-controlled documents.
  • Perform configuration status accounting and generate ad hoc reports as required.
  • Update and track Discrepancy Reports and support audits to verify compliance with baselines.
  • Package, duplicate, and deliver release products to multiple fielded sites and the government.

Requirements

  • 6 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field; 4 years relevant experience with a Master's in a related field; or a High School Diploma and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Ability to define and implement manageable configuration management processes.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products, including MS Project and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledgeable in Windows and Linux operating systems, computer hardware, and networking.
  • Proficient in the use of configuration management tools, including JIRA and GitLab.
  • Familiarity with media duplicating tools and software.
  • Ability to evaluate the current environment and propose a recommended configuration management solution.
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain SECRET to TOP SECRET security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of experience in maintaining consistent product performance and tracking configuration of training systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/DI Tools such as PDXpress.
  • Familiarity with CMMI levels 2 and 3 processes and procedures.
  • Experience in a CMMI/Agile/Department of Defense environment.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, CMII, CM, IAT, NDIA, CMPIC.
