About the position

The Café 56 Manager at OKANA Resort is an entry-level management position responsible for overseeing the operations of Café 56, a coffee shop serving resort guests. This role involves working closely with the culinary team and directing service staff to ensure a memorable guest experience while developing Food & Beverage leadership skills for future growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics to inspire employees.
  • Direct and maintain food handling in compliance with sanitation laws.
  • Ensure compliance with all OKANA policies and procedures.
  • Investigate and resolve food quality and service complaints.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.
  • Maintain employee appearance standards in the food and beverage department.
  • Manage procedures for securing moneys and hotel equipment.
  • Help maximize food and beverage department profitability.
  • Monitor budget to ensure efficient operation and expenditures stay within budget limitations.
  • Promote employee empowerment and maintain high levels of employee satisfaction.
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Select, train, supervise, develop, discipline, and counsel employees according to policies and procedures.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, including cross-training.
  • Implement and maintain local and corporate sales and marketing plans.
  • Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
  • Respond to all food and beverage-related guest correspondence.
  • Review daily food specials for presentation, quality, and pricing.
  • Conduct or assist in scheduling liquor liability training.
  • Assist managers in lowering attrition and conduct departmental meetings.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and help develop financial operating plans.
  • Implement and maintain incentive programs and maintain inventory control.
  • Participate in the development of the annual budget and shop competitors annually.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; some college and degree in Restaurant Management preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in restaurant management.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume multi-unit restaurant environment.
  • Strong cost control background to manage financial performance effectively.
  • Ability to work closely with culinary and front of house teams to deliver quality food and service.
  • Sound time management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Passion for customer service that filters down to all levels of the team.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; effective communication skills with the public and resort team members.
  • Completion of all relevant Food & Beverage certifications.
