About the position
The Roost Outpost is seeking experienced Cafe Baristas for their Hoboken location. The cafe specializes in locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks, emphasizing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of experience with manual espresso machines and gourmet coffee service, including skills in pour overs and latte art.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards
- Properly handle and maintain all equipment
- Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner
- Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling procedures
- Serve customers quickly and efficiently
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings
- Observe relevant health and safety standards
Requirements
- Any coffee-related or food service experience
- Retail, hospitality, and/or customer service experience required
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Ability to problem solve quickly
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Deep love and passion for quality coffee and espresso
- Great working knowledge of manual espresso machines, coffee brewers, and manual espresso bean grinders
- Understanding of brew ratios and milk textures
- Willingness to work as part of a small team as well as independently
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with latte art
- Knowledge of different coffee regions and roasting characteristics
