About the position

The General Manager at Corner Market Cafe is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the café, ensuring high standards of food quality and guest service, managing staff, and optimizing financial performance. This role involves making critical decisions regarding employee management, inventory control, and compliance with health and safety regulations, all while fostering a positive work environment and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all areas of the Café and make final decisions on matters of importance.
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food and labor costs.
  • Ensure that all financial and personnel/payroll related administrative duties are completed accurately and on time.
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling and maintain cleanliness in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, and federal/state/local laws.
  • Maintain a professional restaurant image, including cleanliness and proper uniforms.
  • Ensure positive guest service and respond to complaints effectively.
  • Manage shifts, including daily decision making, scheduling, and planning.
  • Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
  • Interview and hire hourly employees, and manage their development and performance.

Requirements

  • 2 years of General Manager experience in a restaurant setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and personnel management.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to motivate a team.
