About the position

The purpose of this position is to maintain direct involvement in the planning and execution of cafeteria strategy, developing hourly associates, monitoring and analyzing financial and productivity Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), determining and implementing best practices, meeting objectives and goals, driving improvement, and ensuring a safe work environment for associates. This position is responsible for adhering to federal, state and local regulations, and reporting on operations to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Operating up to four Publix cafeterias safely and efficiently
  • Meeting operational cost plans and maximizing allocated resources
  • Implementing continuous improvement efforts in cafeterias
  • Facilitating business area policy or process changes in assigned cafeterias to ensure smooth transitions and associate compliance
  • Developing and implementing training materials and associate training.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 20 years old
  • Valid driver's license and authorization to drive a company vehicle (on or before his or her start date in the position)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, Nutrition or Business Management or comparable experience in Hospitality management or Culinary field food service industry leadership or equivalent experience
  • Three years management/supervisory experience in Hospitality management or Culinary field
  • ServSafe or equivalent Food Safety Manager Certification
  • Must have a willingness to work a variable work schedule, including holidays, nights, weekends, and extended hours
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours/7 days a week
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays
  • Knowledge of food service operations
  • Knowledge of FDA Food Codes and the Code of Federal Regulations concerning food safety
  • Knowledge of proper inventory and ordering systems
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills, including the ability to motivate associates
  • Ability to show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work
  • Ability to be flexible, creative, and resourceful
  • Ability to handle and prioritize a variety of tasks and responsibilities
  • Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation
  • Ability to demonstrate organizational and time management skills including the ability to multitask
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and explain financial information
  • Ability to demonstrate detailed organization by analyzing, planning, and follow through at a detailed level
  • Ability to generate unique solutions and ideas to address problems and improve work efficiencies, productivity, and customer service
  • Customer service skills
  • Knowledge of Publix hiring processes and Distribution processes for selecting hourly associates
  • Ability to encourage participation, learning, innovation, and creativity with teams and associates
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Ability to be exposed to highly confidential information and matters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Four years management/supervisory experience in Hospitality management or Culinary field
  • Advanced Culinary or Nutrition Certification
  • Have knowledge of OSHA regulations
  • Have knowledge of SAP
  • Have knowledge of Café Database and Food Processor Nutrition Analysis Software
