About The Position

The primary duty of the Costume Shop Manager is to manage and run the costume shop in an efficient manner. This role involves direct responsibility to the Theater Production Manager and the Costume Designer(s) for the Theater productions. The manager will oversee all costume and wardrobe elements for Cain Park theaters and any special events that require wardrobe assistance, ensuring that these tasks do not interfere with the demands of the Theater wardrobe and costume needs.

Requirements

  • College graduate or 2-4 years experience in a related field.
  • Previous costume shop experience preferred.
  • Previous experience managing a budget required.
  • High level sewing skills required with the ability to teach others.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible to the Theater Production Manager and the Costume Designer(s) for the Theater productions.
  • In charge of all costume/wardrobe elements for Cain Park theaters and special events.
  • Coordinate the procurement of appropriate measurements for costume designs and fittings.
  • Supervise and assist all costume fittings.
  • Inventory, maintain, and repair all Park Costume Shop equipment.
  • Inventory, maintain, and coordinate the use of all Park costume stock.
  • Maintain costume designs, costume information, costume measurement sheets, and all paperwork related to costuming for Theater productions.
  • Produce working drawings as necessary for the shop.
  • Order all costume materials, supplies, and rentals, coordinating their delivery and return or storage needs.
  • Stay within the costume and laundry budgets and compromise when necessary.
  • Attend all technical and dress rehearsals.
  • Supervise the training of Actors and Park personnel in unfamiliar costumes or equipment.
  • Work with the Costume Designer(s) towards the realization of their designs.
  • Cost out shows with the Costume Designer(s) and Theater Production Manager.
  • Act as Wardrobe Supervisor/Dresser during all performances.
  • Maintain costumes on a daily basis and coordinate cleaning schedules.
  • Coordinate the repacking and returning of rented costumes and accessories.
  • Maintain high safety levels at all times.
  • Attend all production meetings and any other required meetings.
