The Cake Decorator/Baker position at Smallcakes Cupcakery involves creating and decorating a variety of baked goods, ensuring high-quality standards and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a skilled pastry chef with a passion for artistic baking, capable of working independently and as part of a team. This part-time role requires flexibility in hours and a commitment to maintaining a positive company image through excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Bake and decorate hundreds of cupcakes and cakes daily within the allotted time frame.
• Ensure quality control and fulfill special orders accurately according to Smallcakes specifications.
• Execute recipes precisely and perform basic math functions needed to follow franchise recipes.
• Decorate shop cakes, specialty, wedding, and custom order cakes using advanced decorating skills.
• Work with customers to capture details for cake and cupcake orders and confirm details with them.
• Plan baking and décor schedule to efficiently produce special and custom orders.
• Maintain the highest level of kitchen cleanliness and organization, including sanitizing work areas.
• Procure supplies and goods from approved vendors and manage inventory checks.
• Guide, train, and delegate work to other Pastry Chefs and baking team members.
• Communicate with front of the house to ensure sufficient par levels of baked goods.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of baking experience in a professional setting.
• 2 years of cake decorating experience.
• 2 years of culinary education/school preferred.
• Food Handler Certification preferred.
