About the position

The Diesel Powertrain Calibration Engineer position at OEM focuses on evaluating, assessing, testing, and optimizing vehicle attributes related to diesel powertrains. The role involves modifying vehicle and powertrain calibrations to meet various performance metrics, including emissions, drivability, and fuel economy. The engineer will work both on vehicles and in engine dynamometer test cells, ensuring that the calibration meets robust statistical metrics and performance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Specialization in engine combustion setpoints, SCR aftertreatment operation, DPF regen mode operation and temperature control, CAN communications, and diagnostics calibration.
  • Perform data analysis and regress model calibrations with large data sets and communicate conclusions.
  • Interface with software algorithm suppliers to evaluate new features prior to the development process.
  • Calibrate and sign-off features for future model year Diesel programs.
  • Document progress and methods used to calibrate and validate features within assigned responsibility.
  • Use models and simulation to reduce testing and optimize powertrain calibrations.
  • Travel to remote development locations for vehicle testing, approximately 2 weeks per trip and 3 trips per year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME, BSEE, BSAE, BS Chemical Engineering, BSE Computer Science, BS Computer Engineering).
  • Strong problem-solving skills to drive resolution of sophisticated system issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent data analysis capabilities, including statistical knowledge.
  • Team player who excels in a collaborative and cross-functional environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Valid Driver's license required.
