About the position

The Calibration Technician role at Lockheed Martin involves performing precise calibration measurements and repair functions on various electrical, electronic, physical, and mechanical standards and equipment. The technician will maintain these standards to ensure traceability to recognized national metrology institutes, such as NIST and the United States Navy. This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work within a team environment, ultimately leading to the development of skills necessary for advancement to a senior technician role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precise calibration measurements and repair functions on electrical/electronic/physical/mechanical standards and related equipment.
  • Maintain calibration standards and equipment to ensure traceability to NIST and other recognized metrology institutes.
  • Execute varied work assignments within the Metrology Organization to develop necessary skills for advancement.
  • Utilize general purpose hand tools and computers effectively in calibration tasks.

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge in physical sciences or electronics equivalent to two years of relevant coursework or an Associate of Science degree in electronics or engineering technology.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using general purpose hand tools.
  • Experience with direct calibration and metrology tasks.
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain necessary certifications and licenses for assigned duties.
  • Must be a United States Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Five years of experience calibrating Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment.
  • ASQ Certified Calibration Technician certification.
  • Familiarity with quality inspection verification procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software applications.
  • Experience attending various training for Metrology, such as DOD PMEL or manufacturer training.
