About the position

The Calibration Technician position at Core Laboratories in Clark, NJ, is a full-time role that requires an individual with strong record-keeping abilities and a good head for numbers. The primary responsibility of this position is to assist the lead calibrator in conducting field measurements of bulk liquid storage tanks and barges. This role involves climbing tanks or other structures and entering confined spaces, which may require some overnight travel. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and email applications is preferred, and a background in construction is helpful. Experience with surveying equipment such as electro-optical distance ranging devices, rotating lasers, and steel measuring tapes is also beneficial. The essential duties of the Calibration Technician include calibrating and strapping various types of tanks, including upright cylindrical tanks, horizontal tanks, spheres, trucks, barges, and ships, in accordance with API Standards. The technician will perform pipeline surveys, check the accuracy of measuring equipment, visually inspect equipment for defects, and maintain equipment calibrations. Familiarity with electronic calibration equipment is necessary, and minimal knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel is required for data import and chart generation. The technician will also be responsible for recording all measurements on appropriate field reports and coordinating with customers to schedule appointments. Adherence to safety requirements as specified in Saybolt's Global Safety Manual is crucial, and the technician will need to attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection, including Right-to-Know training.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with and knowledgeable about electronic calibration equipment.

  • Attend training and pass examinations in petroleum, chemical, and gas inspection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with an emphasis on mathematics.
  • Ability to work overtime when necessary and travel overnight.
  • Experience with measuring equipment is helpful but not required.
  • Strong organizational skills for file management and record keeping.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
