About the position

The Call Center Specialist at Family & Children's Services, Inc. is responsible for handling incoming calls from individuals seeking mental health services. This role requires exceptional customer service skills as the specialist will interact with individuals in crisis, including those experiencing psychosis or discussing traumatic events. The position involves gathering information to set appointments or refer callers to appropriate services, ensuring that callers receive the necessary support and guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all incoming calls for individuals seeking mental health services.
  • Provide impeccable customer service to individuals in crisis.
  • Gather necessary information to set appointments or refer to walk-in services.
  • Maintain knowledge of agency programs and their requirements to assist callers effectively.
  • Retain knowledge of outside services for referrals when callers do not meet criteria for services at FCS.
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately enter data into the computer in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with a team and accept on-the-spot supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or a related field is required.
  • One year of full-time paid employment in a social service agency is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strengths in customer service.
  • Ability to accurately enter data into the computer in a timely manner.
  • Dependability and ability to maintain a schedule are required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proven experience in accurately translating verbal information into written format.
  • Experience with electronic health records.
  • Ability to multi-task in a group environment while maintaining excellent customer service.
