About the position

As a Camera Systems Engineer at Meta, you will take on the role of Single Threaded Owner (STO) for camera systems in Meta Reality Labs products. This position is responsible for the end-to-end technical delivery of camera modules, ensuring they are well integrated into the system and meet all specifications and requirements. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams and accountability throughout the module's lifecycle, from concept to production, with a focus on aligning design and simulation with actual build data.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all technical aspects of the camera modules.
  • Define detailed technical specifications and requirements for the camera modules.
  • Analyze data from actual builds to validate design and simulation accuracy.
  • Lead iterative design cycles based on data analysis to ensure continuous improvement of the camera module.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of camera modules into the overall system.
  • Identify, communicate, and resolve technical risks throughout the development process.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all technical decisions, design iterations, and testing results.
  • Regularly report on progress, challenges, and successes to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Lead camera testing and validation efforts to confirm that the final product meets all technical and performance criteria.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in camera module design, optical simulation, metrology, testing and lab work to verify imaging component, assembly and system level performance.
  • Experience with high-volume consumer electronics manufacturing, partnering with offshore suppliers and contract manufacturers.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional communication and collaboration.

  • MS degree in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related technical discipline.
  • Systems engineering experience.
  • Imaging lens design and characterization experience.
  • Image sensor design, characterization and tuning experience.
  • Color science and image quality evaluation experience.
  • ISP tuning experience.
  • Camera module manufacturing processes and production testing experience.
  • Depth sensing system design and manufacturing experience.
  • Electrical circuit design and testing experience.
  • Mechanical tolerance analysis experience.
  • Image processing in Python or Matlab.
