As a Camera Systems Engineer at Apple, you will be at the forefront of designing innovative camera technologies that enhance the photography experience across all Apple products. This role is part of the Camera Technologies group, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware. Your work will directly contribute to creating a magical photography experience that redefines customer expectations. You will be responsible for driving future camera hardware requirements that align with product vision, considering various factors such as feature requirements, ISP and silicon capabilities, power budgets, and optical and mechanical design requirements. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform detailed system analysis and trade-off evaluations, pushing the boundaries of technology to arrive at optimal solutions. You will derive camera and camera system requirements from use cases and develop design options based on system constraints. Your role will involve guiding design studies for imaging system proposals, analyzing system simulations, and delivering executive-level presentations based on solid facts and detailed analysis. You will also collaborate on prototyping efforts for early evaluations and lead architecture development and trade-off analysis across teams, providing technical leadership and oversight. In addition, you will design studies to quantitatively assess customer impact, including visual perception and computer vision algorithm impacts. You will derive image space figures of merit and allocate requirements to related sub-components, taking into account calibration, hardware tolerances, variations, and reliability. Your collaboration will extend to factory test and metrology setups, supporting the camera and system design and validation process, as well as conducting failure analysis and triage.
