About the position

The Camp Rappahannock Maintenance Worker position is a seasonal, full-time role responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the camp's facilities, grounds, and equipment. Under the direction of the Camp Maintenance Supervisor, the worker will ensure the camp environment is safe, clean, and conducive to the camp's mission of providing a positive experience for campers. This role involves a variety of tasks, including grounds maintenance, janitorial duties, and participation in camp activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with camper luggage on opening and closing days.
• Maintain camp grounds by operating necessary grounds care equipment such as mower, tractor, and chain saws in a safe and efficient manner.
• Identify and address hazards found on camp grounds.
• Perform janitorial and general maintenance duties in buildings and areas, including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing floors, and washing windows.
• Dispose of trash and waste from camp facilities and grounds daily.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards.
• Lock and secure all equipment when not in use.
• Assist with the set-up, cleaning, and resetting of meeting areas and rooms as needed.
• Deliver water to designated areas as assigned.
• Participate enthusiastically in evening programs, special events, and other camp activities.
• Serve as a table monitor during meals and engage with campers.
• Keep personal living quarters neat, clean, and ready for inspection.
• Assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.

Requirements

• No formal education or experience required.
• CPR and First Aid Certification.
