About the position

The Campus Director of Information Technology (CDIT) at Connecticut State Community College is responsible for leading technology services on campus, ensuring effective adoption and use of enterprise shared technology services, and managing technical support staff. The CDIT collaborates with various technology managers to meet the needs of the college and supports the institution's mission of promoting student success through innovative technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technology service leadership on campus under the direction of the Associate Vice President of Technology Operations.
  • Assist with the supervision of enterprise shared technology and academic technical support staff.
  • Coordinate service goals based on needs, strategies, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
  • Manage campus-based Technology Service Organizational (TSO) technical staff.
  • Oversee daily administrative tasks and campus-related functions.
  • Supervise, select, manage, and evaluate campus-based technical support staff.
  • Analyze resources needed for technology service obligations and develop cost/benefit analyses.
  • Prepare budgets and expected results of expenditures for technology services.
  • Aid in the preparation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans.
  • Engage in professional development and provide training to technical staff.
  • Provide onsite and remote technical support for various IT services and devices.
  • Manage campus backup and business continuity systems.
  • Maintain and upgrade campus servers, network equipment, and software.
  • Collaborate with regional IT team members on enterprise-wide initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technological discipline.
  • Three or more years of experience in computer system, network, and software design, development, and implementation.
  • Three or more years of experience in supervision of others.
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge in technology service leadership and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing and training technical staff.
  • Proven track record in developing technical solutions and policies.
  • Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM).
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in computer science or related technological discipline.
  • Experience in higher education managing network and servers.
  • Microsoft and industry standard certifications in virtualization and server management.
  • Experience with Windows and Mac operating systems in an academic environment.
  • Experience with help desk ticketing systems.
