About the position

The Campus Director of Tutoring and Academic Support at CT State Community College is responsible for managing a comprehensive program of academic supports, tutoring, and learning assistance. This role aims to assist a diverse student body in achieving their educational goals through effective academic services, including skill testing, tutoring, and learning center operations. The position requires collaboration with faculty and staff to enhance student success and ensure equitable access to educational resources.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the academic support and tutoring programs at the campus.
  • Develop and implement program planning and development strategies.
  • Deliver services effectively to meet student needs.
  • Train, develop, and direct staff involved in tutoring and academic support.
  • Manage budget and fiscal responsibilities related to academic services.
  • Attend and participate in convocation and commencement ceremonies.
  • Serve on assigned committees and task forces.
  • Participate in professional meetings, which may include evening or weekend events.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Two or more years of related experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of academic and skills testing and assessment methods.
  • Familiarity with physical and learning disabilities.
  • Experience with remedial, developmental, and adult education methods.
  • Proficiency in computer-based and multimedia instructional technology.
  • Strong budget management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong information technology literacy skills, including Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of tutoring or academic coaching experience at the postsecondary level.
  • Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation for decision-making.
  • Collaboration experience with faculty from multiple disciplines.
  • Experience supervising student peer tutors.
  • Knowledge of higher education requirements for ADA accommodations.
