About the position

The Campus Instructional Coach for Elementary/Intermediate Math serves as an instructional facilitator focused on the development and improvement of instructional programs and staff development initiatives in Mathematics for assigned grade levels. This role emphasizes leadership in curriculum generation, instructional strategies, and assessment preparation to enhance student success on state assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the CISD Instructional Model and best practices in mathematics for all students.
  • Distribute current information on major trends and best practices in mathematics for CISD students.
  • Model consistent instructional leadership to the highest level.
  • Demonstrate steps taken for professional growth.
  • Provide leadership in the generation of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to prepare students for success on state assessments.
  • Develop original training, protocols, and activities.
  • Modify current staff development to specific audiences.
  • Use masterful presentation skills when training, and demonstrate ease of performance.
  • Evaluate the quality of available instructional materials.
  • Develop curriculum to a high level of rigor utilizing research.
  • Analyze district and campus data, as well as make provisions for aligned instructional strategies/interventions.
  • Create quality common formative assessments.
  • Model instructional best teaching practices in Mathematics.
  • Construct online staff development training.
  • Deliver accelerated instruction to at-risk and struggling students in small groups.

Requirements

  • Three years of successful classroom teaching experience in Mathematics at the elementary and/or intermediate level.
  • Experience in staff development presentations required.
  • Experience in development of Mathematics curriculum.
  • Bachelor's degree in education.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in the area of Mathematics within the grade levels assigned.
  • Valid ESL endorsement, if applicable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Reading Academy Certificate of Completion, if applicable.
  • Strong working knowledge of instructional strategies/interventions for at-risk students.
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data.
  • Strong organization, planning, communication, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong knowledge of mathematical best practices connected to CISD SOLVES.
  • Strong knowledge of Guided Math practices.
