About the position

The Campus Marketing & Communications Coordinator at St. Louis Community College (STLCC) plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and reputation of the college through effective marketing and communication strategies. This position serves as the primary liaison between the campus and the district marketing and communications department, ensuring that all campus-related marketing, public relations, and communication efforts are well-coordinated and aligned with the college's mission and goals. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing marketing plans that promote academic programs, campus events, and community engagement initiatives. In this role, the coordinator will identify and create compelling news and feature stories that highlight the achievements of students, faculty, and staff, as well as significant events occurring on campus. This includes writing press releases, creating collateral materials, and preparing presentations and speeches. The coordinator will also oversee photography and video projects, ensuring that visual content effectively represents the college's brand and messaging. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including campus deans, faculty, and external partners such as local businesses and community organizations. The coordinator will also participate in crisis communication efforts, providing guidance and support during critical situations. Additionally, the coordinator will be involved in creating and editing campus newsletters and other communications, ensuring that information is disseminated effectively to both internal and external audiences. Overall, the Campus Marketing & Communications Coordinator is essential in promoting STLCC's mission of empowering students and strengthening the community through inclusive and transformative education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide marketing, communications, public relations and social media counsel.
  • Serve as the primary contact from the marketing and communications department for the deans and associated schools/pathways on each campus to request and assist with marketing and communications support for the district.
  • Identify and create internal and external news and feature stories and press releases on students, faculty, staff and events and pitching news stories to the media.
  • Serve as lead to build local relationships, i.e., chamber of commerce, business associations.
  • Serve as member of campus and district crisis communications teams.
  • Create and edit campus newsletters and communications.
  • Serve on the campus leadership team and provide marketing and communications counsel.
  • Promote events through marketing and communications efforts.
  • Work with district-wide marketing and communications team and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive responsibility in marketing and communications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe suite of products
  • Practical knowledge and experience supporting brands and visual identities.
