About the position

The Campus Minister for Liturgical Arts at Boston College plays a vital role in promoting the university's Jesuit, Catholic mission by providing opportunities for worship, retreats, service-immersion, and pastoral care. This position focuses on enhancing the liturgical life of the community through music, coordinating student liturgies, and managing the Liturgical Arts Group. The minister will also provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to students and the university community.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate weekly student liturgies and major University-wide Masses.
  • Plan and execute music for Sunday Masses and special events.
  • Recruit, train, and form student instrumentalists and singers for the Liturgical Arts Group.
  • Manage the Assistant Music Ministers to support the development of LAG members.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to students and the university community.
  • Collaborate with other Mission and Ministry initiatives and university programs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, Spirituality, Pastoral Ministry, or a related field (for Campus Minister II and I).
  • 3 years of post-graduate ministerial experience in university/high school campus ministry (for Campus Minister II).
  • Some post-graduate ministerial experience in university/high school campus ministry (for Campus Minister I).
  • In-depth understanding of the Roman Catholic liturgy and sacramental theology.
  • Skills in piano and vocal coaching, with the ability to lead congregational singing.
  • Ability to plan various prayer services and coordinate choirs and instrumentalists.
  • Effective communication skills and relationship-building across the university community.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
  • Practicing Roman Catholic with knowledge of Ignatian Spirituality.
