About the position
The Campus Recreation Assistant position at Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC) is designed to enhance the student experience through active engagement in recreational activities. Under the supervision of the Student Engagement Coordinator and the Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator, the Campus Recreation Team Member will play a vital role in fostering a welcoming and fun environment for students. This position is integral to the operations of the Furlong Smith Fitness Center and the Wachholz College Center, where the assistant will be involved in various recreational programs and events throughout the academic year. The Campus Recreation Assistant will be responsible for engaging students in programs and activities consistently, ensuring that the fitness center is clean and organized, and assisting with the operations of intramural sports. This role requires attendance at mandatory weekly meetings and a commitment to working a flexible schedule that may include evenings and occasional weekends. The assistant will also promote recreational events to the student body and represent the Student Engagement Department in a professional manner. This position is ideal for current FVCC students who are looking to gain practical experience in recreational management, sports, and event planning while developing essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. The role is structured to provide students with opportunities for personal and professional growth, preparing them for future careers while serving as ambassadors for FVCC.
Responsibilities
- Engage students in programs and activities actively and consistently
- Attend mandatory weekly meetings
- Complete a minimum of 4 hours a week assisting with the operations of the fitness center
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment in the fitness center
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Campus Recreation and fitness center desk
- Assist with intramural sports operations under the direction of the Campus Recreation and Wellness Coordinator
- Assist at Campus Recreation events, trips, and activities
- Help create a fun and welcoming environment for students
- Promote recreational events to the student body
- Represent the Student Engagement Department in a professional manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester
