About the position
As a Campus Retail Associate at Ursinus College Bookstore, you will play a vital role in enhancing the retail experience for students, faculty, and alumni. Our campus stores are not just places to shop; they are vibrant hubs of college life and learning. We are committed to creating engaging retail and learning experiences that support our community. In this seasonal position, you will provide superior customer service and assist store leaders in various retail operations to ensure the store operates at its best. Your contributions will help elevate lives through education and foster a sense of community on campus. In this role, you will be expected to assist with processing sales transactions, which may involve cash, credit, or financial aid payments. You will create a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and ensuring they have a positive experience during their visit. Taking initiative is key; you will support store operations by operating equipment and cash registers while maintaining speed and accuracy in transactions. Keeping the store organized and visually appealing is also part of your responsibilities, which includes shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or spaces within the store. This seasonal position requires flexibility, especially during peak periods such as the start and end of semesters, and may involve working occasional weekends. You will gain valuable, transferrable experience and skills that will enhance your resume and prepare you for future opportunities. Responsibilities
- Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
- Provide a friendly atmosphere by greeting customers and focusing on their positive experience throughout their visit.
- Take initiative to support store operations including operating equipment and cash register while ensuring speed of service and accurate transactions.
- Keep the store looking fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space within the store.
- Work during peak periods (i.e. semester starts and ends), occasional weekends, and maintain flexibility in scheduling to work periodically during the school year.
Requirements
- Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for employment.
- Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
- An outstanding attitude with the willingness to learn and the capability to excel in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
- Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.
