About the position
The Campus Safety Officer at Tusculum University is responsible for ensuring the safety and welfare of students, staff, faculty, invitees, and visitors on campus. This full-time position involves enforcing campus policies, serving as the primary emergency response personnel, and providing information and support during campus events. The officer will collaborate with other campus entities and support educational outreach related to safety and welfare.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety and welfare of students, staff, faculty, invitees, and visitors on campus property and at events.
- Enforce campus policies and regulations as set forth by the College.
- Serve as the primary emergency response personnel and information contact for the campus.
- Work with other professional staff assigned to the Campus Safety program during shifts.
- Liaise with other campus entities involved in campus management, such as student life and facilities management.
- Support educational outreach in safety and welfare areas.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid Tennessee driver's license required.
- Possession of a current State of Tennessee Security license or eligibility for licensure.
- Previous security experience or related background in guard, police officer, or military preferred.
- CPR and First Aid training preferred.
- Good English-language skills for oral communication and writing reports.
- Ability to read and interpret printed information.
- Calm demeanor in emergency situations.
- Ability to accurately recall events for proceedings.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Nice-to-haves
- Previous security experience or related guard, police officer, or military background preferred.
- CPR and First Aid training preferred.
