About the position

The position involves supervising and monitoring the behavior of students outside of class and during school-sponsored activities, both on and off campus. The role requires regular patrolling of the campus, establishing rapport with faculty and students, assisting in student discipline, and intervening in potential disruptions or injuries. The supervisor will also check for parking permits, supervise students in the cafeteria, and organize recreational activities.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly patrols campus including restrooms or other problem areas during school hours providing general supervision of students outside of class.
  • Establishes rapport with faculty and students in order to gain their trust and confidence.
  • Assists teachers or administrators, when requested, in dealing with student discipline.
  • Intervenes in situations likely to result in disruption or injury.
  • Refers students to administration in cases of serious or repeated violations of school rules.
  • Checks students who are out of class during class time or who are entering or leaving campus.
  • Intercepts non-students who come on campus during school hours and requires them to either report to the office for a visitor's permit or to depart.
  • Attends school activities both on and off campus, as directed and assists faculty with supervision.
  • Checks cars parked on campus for parking permits.
  • Supervises students in cafeteria.
  • Supervises detention and after school work program.
  • Assists with investigations.
  • Organizes and supervises recreational activities for students.
  • Does related work as required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of people skills, effective communication, adolescent psychology, and crowd control.
  • Ability to learn appropriate codes and deal effectively with a wide variety of personalities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and maintain cooperative relationships.
  • Ability to understand, implement, and give oral and written directions in English.
  • Two years working with school age students.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
