About the position

Live Oak Bank is a digital bank dedicated to serving small business owners across the country. Our mission is to empower the American dream through innovative service and technology. We are currently seeking Financial Analysts for our campus/university recruitment program, targeting December 2024 and May 2025 graduates. This role is integral to our Small Business Banking, Servicing team, where the Financial Analyst will provide essential financial analysis within the Business Analyst Group, adhering to established systems and procedures. As a Financial Analyst, you will gain a unique perspective by collaborating with Business Analysts and the credit and lending teams at Live Oak Bank. Your work will support the management of risk, growth, and credit quality for the bank. You will be responsible for analyzing financial statements and assessing the financial condition of a defined segment of the bank's existing loan portfolio. This includes ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and OFAC regulations to help identify and deter unlawful activities. In this role, you will function as part of a team, recognizing that every member is vital to our success. You will stay current with the bank's products and services, working closely with Business Analysts to service customers and identify potential risks or opportunities. Your responsibilities will include identifying credit trends and risks, completing quarterly credit reviews, reporting on the credit health of loan portfolios, preparing for line of credit draws and renewals, assisting with loan modifications, and partnering with Retention Analysts on customer retention packages. Travel will be required to visit existing borrowers and attend industry conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements and assess the financial condition of a defined segment of the Bank's existing loan portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
  • Identify credit trends and risks within the existing loan portfolio during financial analysis.
  • Complete quarterly credit reviews on assigned segments of the existing loan portfolio.
  • Report and present on loan portfolios' credit health to the Bank.
  • Help prepare for line of credit draws and renewals in conjunction with the Underwriting Team.
  • Assist with loan modifications in partnership with Loan Modification Analysts.
  • Partner with Retention Analysts on customer retention packages.
  • Travel to visit existing borrowers and attend industry conferences.

Requirements

  • Experience with and strong knowledge of basic financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows) is preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • High degree of flexibility and sound judgment.
  • Detail-oriented with high ethical standards.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial analysis or banking is a plus.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in banking.
