About the position

The Canadian Payroll Specialist at AZZ Inc. is responsible for accurately processing the organization's Canadian payroll, ensuring timely payments and compliance with tax regulations. This role involves handling payroll data, preparing reports, and serving as a resource for payroll-related inquiries, all while contributing to a culture of trust and accountability within the company.

Responsibilities

• Processes employee paychecks by compiling and computing wages, deductions, and other payroll data.
• Enters and maintains payroll data in computerized payroll systems.
• Reviews timesheets and payroll reports to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
• Prepares and balances period-end reports and reconciles issued payrolls.
• Prepares statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay, and submits to appropriate departments.
• Assists with preparing quarterly tax payments and preparing year-end reporting.
• Distributes and collects timecards each pay period.
• Maintains garnishment rules in payroll system and assists with research and testing.
• Answers routine to complex questions from employees and supervisors regarding payroll matters.
• Assists Accounting/Finance departments with payroll related tasks and projects.

Requirements

• Must have experience processing Canadian payroll.
• Prior experience with ADP and/or Oracle payroll systems preferred.
• High attention to detail required.
• Excellent written and oral communication for both internal and external engagement.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite applications required.
• Must be self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
