About the position

The Area Manager at Sun Theory is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the operations of multiple cannabis retail stores within a designated region. This position requires a dedicated and results-oriented individual who possesses excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to motivate and elevate both their team and the performance of the stores. The Area Manager will act as a liaison between the area branches and the company headquarters, managing day-to-day operations while coordinating closely with the Vice President of Retail. This role is essential in driving company goals and creating a positive working environment that enhances the customer shopping experience. The Area Manager will be tasked with growing market share and designing, promoting, and executing various programs and incentives within the stores. They will set regional goals, including sales estimates and revenue projections, ensuring that marketing efforts are consistent across all locations. Additionally, the Area Manager will manage a regional budget, ensuring that each store operates within its financial parameters. This position is not only about managing operations but also about fostering a culture of excellence and compliance within the cannabis retail industry. Key responsibilities include hiring and training dispensary management, providing performance feedback, and ensuring that all teams adhere to standard operating procedures and compliance expectations. The Area Manager will regularly visit all locations to monitor the execution of key initiatives and work directly with the teams to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency. They will also be responsible for gathering analytics data to report on profit and loss management, driving sales, and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the Colorado Marijuana Industry, including current regulations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operations of multiple cannabis retail stores within an assigned region.
  • Act as a liaison between area branches and company headquarters.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Retail and report on team performance.
  • Set regional goals such as sales estimates and revenue projections.
  • Ensure marketing efforts are consistent across each store.
  • Manage a regional budget and ensure compliance with financial parameters.
  • Source, interview, hire, and train dispensary management across all locations.
  • Provide feedback on performance and issue individual development plans.
  • Utilize existing tools to prioritize communications with store management.
  • Execute problem-solving approaches and design long-term solutions.
  • Drive the implementation of company programs and motivate the general management team.
  • Deliver regular updates on activation execution and local sales trends.
  • Monitor and report on competitors' activities and success stories.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Colorado Marijuana Industry and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure teams abide by standard operating procedures and compliance expectations.
  • Gather analytics data to report on profit and loss management.
  • Regularly visit all locations to monitor execution of key initiatives.
  • Create a consistent in-store experience for customers across all retail operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of multi-unit management experience.
  • 10+ years of previous sales/management experience.
  • P&L oversight and management experience.
  • Demonstration of cross-discipline execution of brand and marketing strategy.
  • Ability to interpret, organize, and analyze data (sales, inventory, overhead, etc.).
  • Dynamic, creative, and passionate about retail operations and marketing opportunities.
  • Knowledge and experience in the cannabis industry (preferred but not required).
  • Strong analytical skills and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to build relationships both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Proficient in MS Office and able to navigate multiple software platforms.
