About the position

The position involves assisting the Department Manager in various operational aspects of the Grocery Department, including planning, organizing, staffing, training, and directing associates. The role focuses on maximizing store sales and profits while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Department Manager in planning and organizing the Grocery Department operations.
  • Train and direct Grocery Department associates to ensure effective performance.
  • Perform production and customer service functions to maximize store sales and profits.
  • Manage staffing needs and scheduling of associates as authorized by store management.
  • Respond to customer and associate comments, complaints, and requests in a professional manner.
  • Utilize Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) for managing inventory and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain proper merchandising, signage, and product rotation in the department.
  • Engage associates in effective merchandising techniques and customer service practices.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, particularly regarding dress code and sanitation standards.
  • Provide input on department budgets, goals, and results to the Department Manager.

Requirements

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly and handle stressful situations calmly.
  • Understanding of key components of department operations, including inventory management and customer service.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Ability to operate power machinery and various job tools safely.
