About the position

The Fleet Remediation Project Design Electrical Engineer at AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for leading design projects that enhance the capacity and efficiency of existing data centers. This role involves collaborating with various teams to develop innovative solutions that reduce power utilization and increase available building capacity for additional server racks. The engineer will provide lifecycle support from design through implementation, ensuring that projects meet the highest standards for safety and security while optimizing costs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects in operational data centers to upgrade infrastructure.
  • Develop solutions that add data center capacity and reduce power utilization.
  • Generate global standardized designs for various capacity projects.
  • Collaborate with capacity delivery and planning teams to identify opportunities for capacity enhancement.
  • Innovate designs to reduce power consumption and increase available building capacity.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for capacity projects across data centers.
  • Interface with internal and external design engineering teams and other stakeholders to promote standards.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover of capacity projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of design experience in industrial or commercial engineering, particularly in mission-critical facilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
  • Direct experience with design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission-critical facilities, especially data centers.
  • Experience as a resident design engineer or hands-on design consultant.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
