About the position

The Transport Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the transport business, ensuring safe and efficient execution of operations. This role involves planning schedules, managing driver assignments, tracking equipment costs, and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations. The Operations Manager will also focus on safety, driver management, and maintaining good relationships with team members.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational needs of the transport business.
• Plan and develop schedules for drivers and equipment.
• Assign trucks and trailers to drivers.
• Track equipment costs and implement plans to manage expenses.
• Monitor safety results and coach the team on safe operations.
• Ensure compliance with local and federal DOT laws.
• Manage all aspects of driver management including hiring, training, and onboarding.
• Complete driver payroll accurately and timely.
• Conduct quarterly safety meetings and monitor driver safety bonuses.
• Manage and mentor the Transport Lead Driver.
• Schedule equipment maintenance and annual inspections for compliance.
• Investigate incidents and accidents promptly.

Requirements

• Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3 years of work experience in transportation management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
• Advanced analytical skills and computer/technology proficiency.
• Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with LMS training systems.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance standards.
