About the position

The Capital Budget Analyst (CBA) plays a crucial role in assisting the Port of Tacoma and the Northwest Seaport Alliance (NWSA) with the development and management of the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) Budgets. This position is responsible for tracking and reporting project expenses, ensuring accurate updates on the CIP, and providing detailed analysis and reporting to internal stakeholders. The CBA will work closely with various departments to manage budgets, forecasts, and project administration support, ensuring that the CIP remains within approved amounts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and management of the Capital Investment Plan (CIP) Budgets for the Port of Tacoma and NWSA.
  • Track and report project actual expenses using Microsoft D365.
  • Provide accurate updates and reporting on the CIP, project budgets, and actual costs.
  • Conduct analysis and provide clear reporting of the CIP, actuals, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Manage the development of the CIP budget and forecasts from various project sources.
  • Work closely with accounting staff to assign accounting attributes and project managers for project attributes.
  • Enter CIP and funding data into the system and prepare documentation for spending authorization.
  • Support accounting and project management by reviewing charges for accuracy.
  • Provide support for the Investment Development and Decision Process (IDDP) for new projects.
  • Assist Engineering, Environmental, and Planning departments with project administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, information technology, construction management, or an analytical related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in business, project management, construction management, or similar functions.
  • Experience creating, tracking, and reporting on budgets.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with accounting software, Microsoft D365, and project management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Power BI.
  • Experience in project planning and scheduling.
