About the position

VRE is excited to announce an opportunity for a Capital Budget & Grants Manager who will play a pivotal role in developing and managing our capital budget and grants. This position is designed for an innovative, experienced, and highly motivated financial manager who will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Six-Year Capital Improvement Program. The Capital Budget and Grants Manager will work closely with project development and implementation staff throughout the entire project lifecycle, ensuring that all financial aspects are managed effectively and efficiently. In addition to overseeing the capital budget, the manager will also be tasked with developing, optimizing, and directing pre- and post-award grant management activities. This includes identifying and pursuing grant opportunities, coordinating with local, state, and federal funding partners, and providing oversight and guidance to grants accounting staff. Candidates for this position should possess a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or a related field, along with experience managing capital budgets through the full project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree and experience in a public sector, transportation, or rail setting, particularly with USDOT/Federal Transit Administration grant programs and project compliance. Responsibilities
