About the position

The Capital Funds Project Coordinator at the Tallahassee Housing Authority is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating capital improvement and construction projects from initiation through to completion. This role involves managing the Capital Fund budget, assisting with cost estimation and scheduling, and ensuring compliance with local codes and regulations. The coordinator will also evaluate existing locations for renovation needs and maintain project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates capital improvement and construction projects.
  • Manages the Capital Fund budget and work planning.
  • Assists with cost estimation and scheduling of construction projects.
  • Coordinates capital construction activities to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Evaluates existing locations to determine renovation requirements and compliance with codes.
  • Maintains manual and electronic files for regulatory compliance.
  • Monitors project activities to ensure objectives are achieved within budget and timeframes.
  • Prepares written materials for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Recommends policies and procedures related to construction projects.
  • Responds to inquiries from various stakeholders regarding project information.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in engineering, project management, architecture, or equivalent work experience.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Knowledge of HUD Capital Funds Program and submission requirements.
  • Understanding of procurement and contracting requirements, including section 3 and Davis Bacon requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize, assign, coordinate, and evaluate work of staff.
  • Experience in preparing and monitoring project budgets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience as a general contractor may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Basic knowledge of modern office equipment.
