About the position

The Capital Improvement Project Manager III is responsible for overseeing complex capital and maintenance improvement projects within San Bernardino County. This role involves coordinating major renovations, site selection, development, and construction management of County-owned properties and utility infrastructure. The position also includes training and leading project teams, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery, and maintaining quality standards for the facilities managed by the Project & Facilities Management Department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee capital and maintenance improvement projects.
  • Coordinate major renovation and replacement of facilities.
  • Manage site selection, development, and space needs studies.
  • Develop design criteria and oversee architectural services.
  • Provide construction management for County-owned properties and utility infrastructure.
  • Lead project teams and provide training to team members.
  • Prepare bid packages and advertisements for procurement.
  • Negotiate and administer contracts for design and construction.
  • Provide inspection and project management services from concept through occupancy.

Requirements

  • Three years of project management experience over multiple capital improvement and building projects.
  • Experience in developing and updating project schedules and tracking project budgets.
  • Oversight of design and construction processes.
  • Associate Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Public Administration, Business, or a closely related field.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Five or more years of project management experience.
