About the position

The Capital Markets Research and Portfolio Construction Analyst role at U.S. Bank's Asset Management Group involves conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis across various asset classes, including Equity, Fixed Income, and Real Assets. This position plays a crucial role in providing strategic and tactical asset allocation guidance for over $500 billion in client capital. The analyst will engage in data gathering, model maintenance, and development while staying informed about capital market trends to identify and communicate investment opportunities and risks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis across primary asset classes such as Equity, Fixed Income, and Real Assets.
  • Support strategic and tactical asset allocation guidance for over $500 billion in client capital.
  • Gather data and maintain and develop financial models.
  • Stay informed about capital market trends to identify investment opportunities and risks.
  • Utilize software tools such as Bloomberg, Microsoft Excel, Morningstar, and Python for analysis and reporting.
  • Contribute to presentation materials and client content.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and senior leaders in research, portfolio construction, and fund manager due diligence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of capital market experience (research, trading, investment banking, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Intermediate or better Excel skills, with a desire to develop expert-level aptitude.
  • Team-oriented with a strong personal work ethic.
  • Passion for capital markets and understanding of quantitative analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Python.
  • Progress toward Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) designation, or equivalent advanced credentials.
