About the position

Morris Group, Inc., a leading machine tool distribution network in North America, is seeking a Capital Sales Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting our customers in the precision machined parts industry, particularly through the sale of CNC machine tools, tooling, and accessories. The Capital Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing action plans to identify and pursue sales leads within a designated territory, ensuring that we meet our customers' needs effectively and efficiently. In this position, you will collaborate closely with various departments, including Engineering, Service, and Contract Administration, to ensure accountability and follow-up on customer projects. Your involvement will extend to turnkey projects and customer demonstrations, where you will work to meet project timelines and budgets. You will engage with customers during pre-sale activities, conducting evaluations of opportunities, assessing machine and part processing needs, and developing comprehensive turnkey proposals. Additionally, you will be responsible for integrating your sales activities into our CRM system, Salesforce, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of your efforts. The role requires a strong technical background in the machine tool industry, as you will need to make accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports, and interpret technical plans and specifications. You will also be expected to program and set up CNC lathes and mills, as well as develop and implement custom demonstrations and training for customers on the safe operation of CNC machining centers and multi-tasking machines. Responsibilities

  • Prepare action plans for effective search of sales leads and prospects to cover and support the territory.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Service, Contract Administration, and management to provide accountability and follow-up for customers.
  • Maintain involvement in turnkey projects, demonstrations, and other customer-related projects to meet timelines and budgets.
  • Interact with customers and engineers on pre-sale activities, including customer visits and evaluations of opportunities.
  • Conduct machine and part processing assessments and recommendations, and develop turnkey proposals.
  • Integrate sales and individual activity into the CRM system (Salesforce).
  • Make accurate cost estimates, write engineering reports, and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Possess and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the machine tool industry and product lines represented by the company.
  • Program and set up CNC lathes and CNC vertical or horizontal mills.
  • Develop and implement custom demonstrations and train customers in the safe setup and operation of CNC machining centers, lathes, and/or multi-tasking machines.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of sales experience with an understanding of customer and market dynamics.
  • Strong professional communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software, specifically Salesforce.com.
  • Technical capability preferred.
