About the position

The Captive & Risk Retention Group Program Manager at Capital Health is responsible for providing operational and strategic direction for the organization's insurance program. This includes managing two captive insurance companies, overseeing various private lines of insurance, and maintaining relationships with insurance brokers, outside counsel, accountants, and actuaries. The role supports the healthcare system in managing professional and general liability insurance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and conducting risk assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the relationship between Capital Health and its insurance captives and reinsurers.
  • Oversee daily transactions involving captive insurance companies CRIC and BSR.
  • Coordinate with external captive managers for board meetings and audits.
  • Prepare financial reports for the Board Finance Committee for CRIC and BSR.
  • Handle all financial transactions related to CRIC and BSR, including invoice approvals for litigation matters.
  • Work with Deputy General Counsel for Litigation on setting reserves for claims.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting of litigation claims.
  • Manage the Converge safety reporting system for claims and provide data analytical services for quality improvement activities.
  • Prepare quarterly loss run reports for CRIC, BSR, and D&O/EPL claims.
  • Track and monitor incidents/claims for HPL/GL and report to reinsurers.
  • Conduct risk assessments for employed practitioners and maintain insurance records.
  • Manage the annual insurance renewal process and maintain accurate records.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Five years of recent experience in an acute care facility, risk management, safety, quality, law firm, or insurance environment.
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis, with experience in claims or litigation management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and good presentation skills.

  • Experience with regulatory reporting and compliance in healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and methodologies.
