About the position

The purpose of the Cardiac RN job is to provide comprehensive skills specific to Cardiac and Pulmonary Nursing. The RN works directly with the physicians, radiology technicians, cardiology staff, and scheduling to coordinate testing for the patients. The role involves performing required tasks with advanced skill and in-depth knowledge of current evidenced based practices related to cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology to both inpatient and outpatient populations. The RN understands co-morbid conditions, diagnostic procedures, treatment regimes, and has advanced working knowledge of normal and abnormal responses in the setting of exercise stress testing.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive skills specific to Cardiac and Pulmonary Nursing
  • Coordinating testing for patients with physicians, radiology technicians, and cardiology staff
  • Performing tasks with advanced skill and knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Understanding co-morbid conditions and diagnostic procedures
  • Having knowledge of normal and abnormal responses in exercise stress testing

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
  • Current BLS required
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • BSN preferred
  • ACLS and PALS required within 6 months
  • Competent to assist with stress testing within 1 year of employment
  • ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification within one year of employment
  • Certified Exercise Specialist, American College of Sports Medicine within one year of employment
