About the position

A-Team Solutions is seeking a full-time Cardiac Sonographer for a contract position at the VA San Diego HealthCare System. This role involves performing various echocardiographic studies, coordinating patient scheduling, generating reports, and maintaining equipment. The contract is for one year with the possibility of extension, requiring 8-hour shifts with on-call duties and potential overtime.

Responsibilities

• Generate real-time 2-D, M-mode, Doppler studies including continuous wave and pulsed, color flow, transesophageal, and dobutamine echo studies.
• Coordinate the scheduling of patients.
• Generate reports and keep records, reviewing test results with the interpreting physician.
• Utilize electronic medical records for scheduling information and patient exam notes.
• Maintain logs of patient data and a library of videotapes and hardcopy tracings.
• Perform elementary preventative maintenance of the equipment and coordinate service with Biomedical Engineering and outside companies.
• Recognize normal and functional anatomy in diseased conditions and detect abnormal ultrasound images and Doppler shifts.
• Perform daily calibration of equipment.
• Address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, explaining procedures to reduce anxieties.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Sonographer technologist program.
• Minimum of 2 years hospital experience as a cardiac sonographer.
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification or CCI Credential as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
• State licensure as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS).
