About the position

The Cardiac Sonographer at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for performing non-invasive diagnostic echocardiographic procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing heart disease. This full-time position requires independent judgment and technical expertise, with a focus on providing high-quality patient care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform non-invasive diagnostic echocardiographic procedures at a technical level.
• Support the physician in the diagnosis of heart disease.
• Select proper technical factors for each exam based on individual patient needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and business information.
• Transport patients to and from the department to reduce wait times.
• Demonstrate competency in various types of Cardiac Sonograms including Transthoracic Adult and Transesophageal.
• Assist physicians during TEE procedures and follow department protocols for exams.
• Attend staff meetings to stay updated on policies and procedures.
• Clean and restock echo procedure rooms and disinfect equipment after each use.

Requirements

• High School graduate
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification required within one year of graduation.
• BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association.

Nice-to-haves

• 1 to 2 Years of Position-Related Experience
• Pediatric Echocardiography certification preferred.
