About the position

The Cardiac Sonographer III position at Covenant Health involves working in the Cardiac Diagnostics Department to assist cardiologists in diagnosing various cardiac issues using advanced echocardiography techniques. This role requires a high level of expertise in performing transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress echocardiograms, while adhering to IAC standards. The position is PRN with variable hours, primarily during the day shift, and emphasizes patient care and technical proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Understand cross-sectional human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology to obtain optimal studies.
  • Precept and train new employees and students in the technical aspects of echocardiography.
  • Assist with ICAL credentialing and lead performance improvement projects for the department as necessary.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of advanced medical terminology and experience in performing optimal studies.
  • Perform critical skills including appropriate delivery of care according to age-specific patient needs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment, supplies, and imaging areas.
  • Perform advanced ultrasound testing using various techniques and technologies.
  • Act as the primary liaison between patients, physicians, and support team members.
  • Provide patients and families with explanations and documentation of procedures.
  • Complete preliminary reports to assist physicians with test results.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships within the department and with patients.
  • Participate in continuing education for optimal patient care and technical competence.
  • Coordinate daily work distribution and patient flow for self and other staff.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required education assignments annually.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association prior to hire.
  • Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain a CCI, ARRT, or ARDMS Registry.
  • Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
