About the position
The Cardiac Sonographer I position at the University of Chicago Medicine involves performing pediatric transthoracic echocardiography studies and other echocardiographic imaging under supervision. This role is crucial in providing high-quality cardiac imaging for pediatric patients and contributes to the overall mission of the Pediatric Heart Station.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for Transthoracic echo and Stress Echo procedures.
- Review indications and compare previous studies to accurately answer questions from referring physicians.
- Communicate with patients, customers, and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
- Utilize Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record, charge, and report procedures.
- Actively participate in process improvement activities.
- Involve in research and publications to stay at the cutting edge of the field.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited lab.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Obtaining registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
