About the position

The Cardiac Sonographer I position at the University of Chicago Medicine involves performing pediatric transthoracic echocardiography studies and other echocardiographic imaging under supervision. This role is crucial in providing high-quality cardiac imaging for pediatric patients and contributes to the overall mission of the Pediatric Heart Station.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for Transthoracic echo and Stress Echo procedures.
  • Review indications and compare previous studies to accurately answer questions from referring physicians.
  • Communicate with patients, customers, and staff in a respectful and compassionate manner.
  • Utilize Xcelera data archiving system and Electronic Medical Records system to record, charge, and report procedures.
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities.
  • Involve in research and publications to stay at the cutting edge of the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of clinical hours at an accredited lab.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Obtaining registry status with either Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.
