About the position

The Cardiac Sonographer is responsible for the daily operations of the echo lab, including equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and ensuring quality improvement. This role requires proficiency in performing various echocardiograms and working closely with Cardiologists to achieve optimal echocardiography quality. The position emphasizes a commitment to medical ethics, continuous learning, and providing remarkable patient care.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the echo lab.
• Perform simple and complex echocardiograms, including pediatric echocardiograms and stress echo.
• Assist in emergency procedures such as pericardiocentesis.
• Maintain and report on equipment maintenance and failures.
• Ensure quality improvement in echocardiography services.
• Work closely with Cardiologists to optimize echocardiography quality.
• Deliver exceptional patient experiences in every dimension.
• Foster a safe patient environment following the principle of 'First Do No Harm.'

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 Year/Associate Degree preferred.
• Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs required.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentials (RDCS) required.
• CPR Certification required.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
• Ability to evaluate echocardiograms for diagnostic information.
• Ability to shift workload to meet patient needs.
• Ability to use independent judgment in examinations.
• Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in emergency situations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of echocardiography interpretation and skills.
• Strong communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs.
