About the position

The Market Cardiologist (MC) at ChenMed is a licensed and board-certified professional responsible for providing direct patient care and assessments primarily in an ambulatory healthcare center setting. This role involves diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases, managing patient care, and leading a cardiovascular care team. The MC plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality care and compliance with clinical guidelines while also participating in administrative duties and quality improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care and care coordination.
  • Leads a cardiovascular care team, including Care Promoters and Technicians.
  • Assists the Medical Director in managing clinical and business operations.
  • Consults with the Medical Director to ensure compliance with guidelines and participate in quality management programs.
  • Manages the care of chronic cardiovascular diseases for a panel of 3,500 to 4,000 patients.
  • Assesses patients for surgical readiness and collaborates with surgeons.
  • Runs and accurately reads EKGs, chest X-rays, and echoes; orders necessary tests.
  • Limits external cardiovascular care when high-quality internal care is available.
  • Prescribes medication and treatment according to patient conditions and guidelines.
  • Reviews PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and determines urgency.
  • May oversee cardiology clinical operations of 2-4 centers in the market.
  • Provides patient education related to heart disease and wellness.
  • Assists with training and hiring of cardiology Care Promoters and NPs/PAs.
  • Coaches and mentors PCP physicians in cardiology management.
  • Participates in cardiovascular team meetings and clinical discussions.
  • Aids with quality and performance initiatives and builds relationships with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Cardiology is required.
  • Current, valid medical license including DEA license required.
  • BLS certification required; ACLS certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising providers and clinical staff is essential.
  • Experience in a culturally and linguistically diverse setting is essential.
  • Experience in a managed care environment is strongly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts and practices in Cardiology.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to build relationships with external organizations.
  • Good analytical skills and ability to manage for results.
  • Conflict management and resolution skills.
