About the position

The Cardiac Device Specialist at Logan Health plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care to patients with implantable cardiac devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators. This position requires a strong technical aptitude and a commitment to patient care, ensuring that devices are properly monitored, programmed, and maintained while adhering to hospital compliance and patient confidentiality regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiac monitor placement and analysis.
  • Generate reports for provider's review and alert appropriate provider of any critical arrhythmias per protocol.
  • Process routine reports for provider review and ensure appropriate documentation for timely billing.
  • Perform device interrogation of various pacemakers and ICDs.
  • Program devices appropriately per protocol and schedule follow-ups.
  • Report device information accurately and timely for provider review.
  • Maintain records and report device interrogations to leadership per protocol.
  • Monitor supplies and perform cleaning and restocking of cardiac monitors.
  • Evaluate and analyze device functions through remote monitoring and in-person interrogation.
  • Document in-person device interrogations and maintain patient records as required.
  • Perform administrative duties per department procedures for assigned areas.
  • Download remote device monitoring reports and prepare for the reading physician.
  • Ensure timely patient follow-up and prepare physician reports per department procedures.
  • Track and bill monitored patients per department protocol.
  • Preauthorize testing and procedures to ensure reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience with cardiac rhythm management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cardiac rhythms, device interrogation, and programming.
  • Knowledge of hospital compliance and patient confidentiality regulations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Ability to function as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software.
