About the position
The position is responsible for the assessment, direction, and supervision of participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program at MedStar Medical Group. The role involves ensuring compliance with AACVPR requirements, participating in process improvement, and providing education and resources to patients and their families. The individual will work closely with medical staff to develop and implement care plans, monitor patient progress, and facilitate classes and counseling sessions related to cardiac and pulmonary health.
Responsibilities
- Assess and supervise participants in the Cardiopulmonary Rehab Program.
- Ensure compliance with AACVPR requirements.
- Evaluate medical history and current physical status of participants.
- Develop and implement plans of care for participants.
- Instruct participants in proper techniques and use of equipment.
- Monitor exercise sessions and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Provide education and resources to patients and families regarding disease processes and health maintenance.
- Facilitate classes and counseling sessions related to cardiac and pulmonary disease.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives for the program.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program preferred.
- RN - Registered Nurse or RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist licensure required upon hire.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
- ACLS certification required within 1 year of hire.
- Specialty certification in pulmonary or cardiac rehabilitation required within 1 year of hire.
