About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Cardiothoracic Surgery PA at a 519-bed facility. The role involves inpatient, OR, and call coverage with an average census of 10 patients. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The position requires full-time coverage with rotating call. The EMR system used is Cerner, and credentialing takes approximately 90 days.

Requirements

Active Tennessee licensure
Board certification
AHA BLS and ACLS certifications
Minimum 1-year Cardiothoracic Surgery experience or equivalent
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
Active and unencunmbered physician assistant (PA) license in Tennessee
National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
Order and interpret diagnostic tests
Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
